What is osteopathy
Osteopathy came about from a medical doctor, named Dr Andrew Taylor Still who practised as a medical physician and later on founded the discipline termed Osteopathy. It was founded by single handedly by Dr A.T Still himself in 1874. His quest began when he refused to practise as a physician as he concluded that the orthodox medical practices of his day were frequently ineffective & sometimes harmful. Dr A. T Still observed other physicians who kept prescribing medications to every individual who came in with repeated symptoms, again, not fully healed. He knew that there must be an alternative way to allow the body's innate healing abilities . With that said, he spent 3 decades(to refine the art & science of it) to manually adjust the body & allowed it to heal via manipulations of the muscles, tendons & allowed the whole person to heal via the natural way and be able to avoid medications , to which he had plenty of success for and was getting osteopathy a sudden increase in reference to healing naturally(without medications) in the early 70s. Soon after getting his hours & days filled with no more hours left on his hands to treat another person, he realised that in order to help treat more people, that he would have to train students to be osteopaths, to ensure the same thought process and each clinical outcome can be replicated to treating the person as a whole. Today, six university has been erected, in his name teaching his principles, can be found in Arizona(ATSU), even having a dentistry, pediatrics, surgery and medical departments teaching Osteopathy principles rooted across the globe.

Chiropractic & Osteopathy
Definition of an Osteopath (General Osteopathic Council (GOsC)
“Osteopathy is a system of diagnosis& treatment for a wide range of medical conditions. It works with the structure& function of the body, and is based on the principle that the wellbeing of an individual depends on the skeleton, muscles, ligaments & connective tissues functioning smoothly together.”
Definition of a Chiropractor (General Chiropractic Council (GCC)
“Chiropractic is a primary healthcare profession that specialises in the diagnosis, treatment and overall management of conditions that are due to problems with the joints, ligaments, tendons and nerves, especially related to the spine.”
Many of the lay people except those trained in manual osteopathy, confuse themselves with chiropractic care. The reason behind such confusion is the approach of spinal manipulations which is strikingly familiar as it lends a founding linage of hands-on manual therapy from osteopathy which is found in the early 1874, & Chiropractic about twenty years after. There has been claims that DD Palmer(chiropractic founder) "borrowed" Osteopathic's principles and made it what Chiropractic is, and claims to say that he knew nothing of osteopathy when he found Chiropractic. Whatever the argument is, both professions are well alive today and going strong on its own principles(albeit the similarities), serving people as what any form of medicine practitioner would want, for each patient they see.
Confusion between chiropractic and osteopathy is understandable, given that both professions treat a range of spinal and soft tissue pain. However, the primary distinction between the two is the fact that osteopaths use a much broader approach with their patients and treatment time is longer than a chiropractic appointment(in most cases) as they primarily focus on adjustment techniques, which are quicker to carry out. Chiropractors tends to see patients more frequently as such with shorter and quicker adjustments.
Chiropractic appointments tend to be shorter (in most cases) as they primarily focus on adjustment techniques which are quicker to carry out.

A complete care
Our body doesn't only lend importance only to the spine, but the organ's mobility, the breath and the ribcage, joints positioning, lymphatic system, muscular system....and so on. If your spine isn't in the most optimal place, your organs will be affected, your muscles affected, your blood flow to the heart affected, your breath affected by the lack of freedom of movement and your walk changes, your emotional state of mind changes, & quality of life declines overall, which obviously will bring your well-being feeling low, which may cause you to have a disease which was a manifestation of this whole body conversation that you did not listen to.
