Read time 1min 40secs
Looking to learn more about breath & how you can find a class that helps you practise breathing? Read to find out more on how this class might be the class that your body & mind has been needing for.

What is Breathwork?

Breath works is an active session of you doing actual work to help improve your overall wellbeing. Breath works is also one of the few sessions around the globe that specifically teaches individuals how to practise optimal breathing for:
  • High performance
  • Pain reduction
  • Decrease inflammation
  • Increase range of motion
  • Increase memory
  • Increase self awareness
  • Increase cognitive
  • Relaxation
  • Break through personal barriers(emotional trauma, mental trauma, physical performance, spiritual)

Breathing & Neuro- Physiological process

As you can see from above, breath connects & ties us to our being that encompasses the different layers of physical, mental, emotional, spiritual & physical as a whole. Everyone one of us knows that any form of emotional response from sad to happy, to being scared & surprised, & so on, changes the breath rate. What we think of(thoughts) not only affects our breath, but would directly affect our nervous system. When our nervous system(brain) gets overloaded with stimulus that keeps on releasing stimulus that creates a chemical release which your body doesn't need too much of, your body start making adjustments to slowly shut off your body, by example, shortening your range of motion, changing your posture, changing the functions of your organs & so on. All of which, started with the change of the breath, all because, it went unnoticed, for a while.

Is breath works session safe?

It's a breathing class & you are in full control of the session, also it's impossible for the facilitators of the session to force you to breathe more or less, much akin to forcing a donkey to drink water. There are 2 types of breath works session, a shorter session will always be lesser work, a full 55 minute session will assume more work done by having you go through different position(s) & breathing actively.

Who should try breath work?

It's for everyone. If you breathe, you are highly encouraged to attend a breath works session. As it is, the breath is what bridges the mind & the physical aspects of how we interact with both the external & internal environment. When you start breathing to facilitate healing, you increase oxygen uptake to the cells in your body, each organ gets to have nutrients rich blood flowing in & the ability to remove any metabolic waste. Your mind starts getting calmer, clearer, breath is fuller(higher oxygen retention), recovery increases, well-being increases. Sounds too good to be true? Well it only is, when you don't/ haven't attended a breath works session & to experience the changes & how it helps you both mentally & physically.

Breath works legit?

If you're a data kinda person, many science is pointing towards studies that has already been established, mentioning that it increases oxygen uptake, encourages neuroplasticity, helps calms the mind down/ body & increases your para-sympathetic nervous response, amongst all other positive aspects of just facilitating breathing into the body.
