Why is this important?
Healthcare providers need a regulating body, which acts for both professional conduct & misconduct. Healthcare providers serves the public and should there be any form of mishap during the treatment leading to incidence of harm, the body serves to give voice to the public that the practitioner shall not ba able to practise anymore publicly, that they years they spent studying and monies spent on their studies are no more valid or recognised anywhere in the world. There has been cases of other healthcare practitioners that has been banned from malpractice, & both public and employers knew about the practitioner tried to use the professional body, but without success as they checked through the body that was claimed as a valid & current practitioner. Below you can see a chart to differentiate between a registered osteopath and non registered.

The chart above only applies mostly to Singapore, European countries such as Denmark and Canada, diploma holders from recognised school have their own professional bodies to help regulate the profession. In Canada, Osteopathy is not regulated, so is the same in Singapore. There isn't an Osteopathy school in SEA(South East Asia), thus most of the registered Osteopaths in Singapore are graduates from UK, USA, New Zealand or Australia.
