Looking for a massage?

Picture
A massage is always welcome!
Sports, weekend activity with the company, running for the bus, carrying your kid, some of life's event can make us pretty sore from not doin them often enough. While most of us quickly look for a massage to rid of this soreness, many of consumers don't realise that massage, by itself, is only a temporary relief by relaxation and a slight increase of blood circulation which will lead to less of the soreness, but, there's a small but, massage does not target the muscles, tendon or the connective tissues to be able to restore the normal length of your range of motion. Massage is a very nice way to unwind after a long day or stressful week, but if you have to sort some of your posture or pains or even for sports specific goals, then you need to stretch using a system called FST(Fascial Stretch Therapy).

The stretch your body needs
FST is a table based stretch system that targets the
fascia(fancier word for connective tissue)
  • tendons
  • muscles
  • and ligaments
by stretching and manipulating the nervous system through contraction and relaxing of the muscles. This is also known as MET(muscles energy technique) or PNF(proprioceptive neuromuscular facilitation). The advantages of adding this system based stretch(FST) is that you get to rewire the nervous system to contract the precise muscle that the therapist is targeting and then allow the same contracting muscles to relax which immediately is followed by a passive stretch to the client. This is a great way to balance out the body's imbalances which may have lead to compensation and the sequences of your muscles activation are less than optimal so to speak. The nervous system can be seen as the "software", and the body and limbs can be seen as the "hardware", once you input the correct sequences to the software of a computer, you change the output of the hardware. One great example of this concept is when you want to make changes to the keypads button on your laptop to create a new shortcut, you change it via the settings and create a new input shortcut so that in the future whenever you press "control + W" it's a different output. The same is with our nervous system, should you rewire the input to change the output, it follows with what you are trying to achieve and by that, you restore the sequence of the muscles to contract and relax for optimal performance.
Imbalances are caused by a variety of factors which includes habitual postures(eg desk-bound job), the environment you are frequently in(eg unstable terrain), emotional factors(eg you will never see a depressed person with a proud chest) and so on. Whatever the imbalances are brought upon by, you can correct them by now changing the input to the nervous system and allow changes to happen by engaging your body in a specific manner that allows you to reach your goals with the therapist. If you have tried increasing your range of by stretching or massage, you would know that it takes quite an amount of time and money(for your massages) and still not stretch an inch further! That is exactly why nothing's happening, nothing has been influenced to change in your nervous system! So the next time you want a massage, try looking for a massage therapist that is an approved provider for FST. Many clients have had nothing short of amazing testimonials and reviews!

Gentle enough for anyone to try!
"FST is safe and gentle enough for both kids and adults, preventative or recovery from injuries or post-operation. A session of FST will never be painful as pain is an indicator of going the opposite way of working with your nervous system. Try a session today and you can decide to go back for more massages, only after getting a treatment session by a Fascial Stretch Therapist!"
