8/26/2019 1 Comment Massage therapy in SingaporeTo start off the topic is to know wether massage therapy is regulated or not, answer is, no massage therapy is not regulated. What does that mean for me reading this article then? A non- regulated profession means that anyone with or without training can call themselves a massage therapist, even open up a physical store(bricks and mortar) and provide massage services(remember with or without training or certifications/ license). Clients needs to understand what this means in reality should anything be addressed to getting certain health conditions or treatment to just getting signed up for a relaxing massage which you can get easily by anyone really. However, most of us aren't aware of this particular expense that we are paying as customers, that the therapist you are seeing may not have enough training to even give you a massage to reap the benefits of it. There has also been cases in Singapore that massage therapists have been jailed and fined for inappropriate behaviours towards a paying client who just wanted a massage. So if it's not regulated and anyone can call themselves a massage therapist, where and what do i do from hereon? Start with asking yourself, what do you want to achieve from the massage session?
You get the idea, once you have a question answered, you ask yourself do you mind getting worked on by anyone or are you wanting to see someone that may potentially help you resolve your issue(s) and come up with a structured planned sessions for a period of time.
Final thing to note is that, always look for someone who has had training in intermediate anatomy & physiology, and if they do this professionally as a full time job, if so what are the qualifications they have. If you are looking for someone whom is licensed to touch clients and help manage your pain, never look around with massage parlours, always look for a centre that has professionals who has been in the practice with clinics and healthcare providers etc. At MSMC, we have manual therapists who are qualified and competent enough to take care of your nagging pains, improve posture and soreness to bring you the best of your body's abilities for movement without pain. Our manual therapy sessions are priced at $65 for 55 minutes, with assessments and medical history taking into account during the first session or visit. Any sessions are always supervised by our facility director making sure that everyone is right on track with assessments & treatments!
