  • Pilates movements
  • Stretching strap
  • Fitness
  • Yoga-based movement(eg downward dog)
  • Foam rolling
  • Weights
  • Mindfulness(eg meditation)

What are Stretch classes?

Stretching class with sticks at movement & Sports Medicine centre Singapore
We don't do boring stuffs, that you can be sure of!
In most studios that offer an old boring approach of stretching session, you would do a set amount of stretches & hold & wait & wait & change(we'd rather a yoga class as its more active yet gentle)
Our stretch classes are different in which we help show you ways to target the connective tissue(fascia) to help with:
  • Recovery from workouts(eg body aches or injury)
  • Mobility in the joints(eg hips, shoulders)
  • Injury prevention
  • Correct imbalances from bad posture
We have 3 types of class class which is referred to as Stretch Mob arts, athletics(great for those looking to improve flexibility in muscles), & super stretch where you will be stretching using different props during the class. Our aim is to show you that improving flexibility & overall wellbeing can be done via active stretching to get deeper into

What is a Stretch & Mobility class?

People who have the idea that a stretch session is relaxing it's because you joined in the wrong stretching class(biggest myth). When you attend a class at Movement & Sports Medicine Centre, we help you target a chain of muscle groups(fascia), problem areas such as your hips, back, & spine by selective active & dynamic stretches.

What are the 3 types of stretching?

Simply put these are the most important aspect of stretching is everything! Each session will involve active, passive & dynamic stretching, & you will be having to move, as all our classes are active exercises. You will work every available range to improve flexibility in muscles, & stretches that you wouldn't do to open the body up.
A common type of injuries that the body sustains in group exercise/fitness activities are areas of the hips(which may lead to lower back pain), lower back pain(caused by poor techniques during gym exercises & weak core). All of which can be easily fixed by regular stretching to help improve movement/ ROM, improving flexibility, & posture. However, most of the stretch group classes gyms, exercise boutique studios(in Singapore at least) don't specialise in stretching(but we do).

10 Benefits of a Stretch class /Mobility

Like many people, if you have a fitness goal, joining a group stretch class stretching with a sports medicine trainer at MSMC's studio will:
  1. Lower the risk of injury
  2. Improved flexibility
  3. Improved workout form
  4. Improved strength
  5. Better form/ movements
  6. Improved joint range
  7. High carryover for athletes
  8. Stronger core muscles
  9. Recovery from exercises
  10. Lower risk of injury

Who can benefits from the stretch class?

As you already know by now stretches/ stretching can be done in a variety of way & unlike a yoga class we target the whole body to give your body a total myofascial release by moving into motion that you have not expose the body to & reintroducing new or old patterns to it. If you have the interest to take part in a class that stretches your superficial & deep muscles, give your body some love by joining us in the next class.
